At the “Taste of South Lake”, guests can enjoy mouth-watering offerings from the restaurants of South Lake Avenue, live performances by local bands, prizes, special live cooking and cocktail demos and a beer and wine garden.  The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11am-4pm, at 251 S. Lake Avenue.  Admission is free.

There will be music performances by La Santa Cecilia, Jessica Fichot, Quetzal Guerrero and Dustbowl Revival.

Additionally, there will be special guest appearances by:

  • Ann Gentry, creator and founder of Real Food Daily, will have a live cooking demonstration at 12:30.  She is the author of The Real Food Daily Cookbook and Vegan Family Meals, and can be seen hosting her own cooking show, Naturally Delicious on Veria on The Dish Network.  She is the executive chef to Vegetarian Times magazine.”I’m going to make a cold black bean and corn salad with red peppers, scallions, walnuts and a really nice dressing,”  Gentry said of the upcoming cooking demonstration.  “It will have crunchy, different textures and we are going to get creative and make it delicious.  I enjoy showing people that eating a grain and vegetable-based diet is not boring; it can be gourmet and you have to learn the tricks of the trade.”
  • Chef Bryant Wigger and head bartender Ken Baranda of Trattoria Neapolis will be having a food and cocktail demonstration at 2:30.  “Both of them are extremely talented,” said Trattoria Neapolis owner Perry Vidalakis.  “I have had many people tell me that Ken has made the very best cocktail they have ever had, and that has happened pretty often.  And Bryant has a real passion for Italian food and then puts his own ‘spin’ on it.  He has a natural talent of making food taste good.”
